Passover limits options for food. Even though we're doing a "Passover Light" kind of thing where we're just not eating leavened bread (because technically you can't have rice or beans or tons of other stuff like beer [as if...]) it is still difficult to find good things to eat. I can only order so many sandwiches without the bread! So Em and I wanted to ride over to The Cove for sardines. The Cove's sardines are not the canned kind you eat with crackers and mustard but they also aren't the huge ones that you get in tapas in Spain:


Yes, that is a for real Spanish tapas, that you get FOR FREE when you order a beer. Oh you thought tapas bars were cool in the USA?

Anyways, the fun part of getting over to Broad is cutting through the Old Forest.



So we get over there and The Cove is closed. Not open yet. So we pedaled down to 3 Angels and had a super good lunch.

Broad Avenue is having their Spring Art Walk today from 5-10PM. Perhaps you can go to The cove and grab some of those sardines.

Gnome Home

So this is what I meant by "Get to "gnome" them." As you can tell from the photo below, Gnome Home is stop #13 on the Old Forest Trail. I suggest starting from the beginning and riding the whole trail to find the location.


I saw that Brett had posted a tentative schedule so I want to go ahead and get this on everyone's calendar. As for when you should expect a race: I'm thinking May 28th, Memorial Day. Hopefully most everyone has the day off of work or can get the day off. You got a problem with that?

He-Man Trail Maintenance

So after riding the Old Forest Trail in Overton Park a couple of times I got tired of hopping off the bike to jump over one particular fallen tree:



I had planned on building a bridge over it with a pallet I had cut up and some chicken wire. I was ready, trailer packed even.



Then Emily and I decided to go for a ride and review the situation. Upon closer inspection the tree was cracked in several places.



Upon realizing that I wasn't going to be able to build the amazing bridge from my imagination I went into a Hulk-like rage and tore the tree apart. It actually happened so fast that Emily wasn't able to capture it with the camera. Here's the aftermath where I'm looking upon the tree with disdain, and also sorrow.



Then I cleared the other section of the fallen tree. Emily helped.




It was honestly more strenuous to cut the pallet than it was to move the tree. So now I have some sweet pallet halves and some chicken wire that I have no idea where I should put to use. I would love to do some kind of trail stuff in Overton Park but they might just be used for a bonfire Thursday night. If you have any ideas about where to use them please let me know. By the power of Grayskull we can build some stuff then go grab a pint.

Snow Day!!!

Em and I got out this morning with our singlespeeds and rode the Old Forest Trail in Overton Park.
